Pikes Celebrate Clint Wallace's Wedding

On June 14, 2008, Delta Lambda Refounding Father Clint Wallace '01, and Elizabeth Love, FSU Pi Beta Phi '01, were married in Columbia, SC. The marriage ceremony took place at Trinity Episcopal Church, which enjoys an interesting place in U.S. History. The Church is the site where the Articles of Succession were drafted by the state of South Carolina preceding the state's decision to succeed from the Union in 1860. When Sherman's army marched through the state after burning Atlanta and Savannah, Sherman commanded his generals to discover which of the churches was the church where the Articles of Succession were drafted, so that he could burn it. In anticipation of Sherman's arrival, all of the churches had taken down their signs. Legend tells that as the Commander of the Army approached the church, the pastor met him at the steps. When the General asked the pastor which of the churches was Trinity Episcopalian, the pastor pointed to the Baptist Church across the street, which was subsequently burned.

The wedding was attended by numerous Florida State Pikes, Pi Phi's and ADPI's. Among the Groomsmen were Ken Winnard '01, Conan Mustain '01, Kevin Ferguson '01, Josh 'Crouch' Faulds '01, Justin Kester '01, Chris Schmidt '01, Andrew Gorman '01, and Chris Chaney '01.

Also enjoying the festivities were Kyle Stienke '01, Adam Liszewski '01, Josh Green '01, Chris Koch '01, Sloan MacKarvich '01, Jonathan Graber '02, Chris Nichols '03, Jeremy Schwab '03, and Jimmy Stanley '04.

Following a honeymoon at the Love's house at Pawley's Island, South Carolina, the couple moved into their home in the Myer's Park neighborhood in Tallahassee. Clint is an associate with the construction law firm of Smith, Currie & Hancock. Elizabeth is pursuing a degree in architecture.

Alex and Michelle Mullineaux Wed

"I thought I would send a quickpicture from my wedding in April. Michelle and I got married on April 21st in St. Augustine. Although it was a very small wedding we did have a few Pikes there; Josh Cossey '01 officiated the ceremony."

Hollywood TV Production Executive Ray Marchant '81

Ray Marchant '81 sent a brief note and a photo to chapter pal Ed D'Avanzo '79 who sent it to the website. "Ray is looking good," chuckles Ed.

In his note to D'Avanzo, Marchant said, "I've attached a picture of me on the red carpet from one of our show's a couple of years ago."

After graduation from FSU, Ray had a long tenure with Walt Disney Productions before moving west. Most recently he has produced for iCandy TV and A&E Television.

Ray was Executive in Charge of Production for House of Carters (2007) (TV Series) and Line Producer for Sons of Hollywood (2007) (TV Series)

Sears Family Wants to Reconnect with Delta Lambda

"I am Scott Sears' wife, Alain Parent Sears and both my husband and I attended FSU and were involved in the PI KAPPA ALPHA organization throughout our tenure at Florida State.

My husband, Richard Scott Sears '83 and his brother Randy Sears '79 were Pike Brothers and both graduated around 1984 and Scott in Fall of 1985.

I arrived at FSU in the fall of 1985 and pledged as a Kappa Delta (KD lady) and a Pike little sister. I also served on the little sister board for a few years and twice on the Dream girl panel. I was elected as the Pike Dream Girl in the spring of 1988 (my junior year) following DeeCee Barrasso. This was such an honor for me, albeit it followed by a terrible series of events which led to the removal of the Pikes from FSU campus for a while. Lastly, I have been in too many Pikeboy issues to count and the 1st FSU calendar (which clearly dates me!)
I wanted to reconnect and let you know we are both doing well. We were married 9 years ago in Atlanta and introduced by a FSU Pike. We resided in Scottsdale Arizona for the past eight years, and relocated to Palm Beach last August and are happy to be back in Florida!

The love of our life is our daughter, Hope Jennings Sears, who just turned six years old and attends the Benjamin School in North Palm Beach.

We would like to visit the new house this fall for Homecoming and become involved alumnae after all these years."

New York-Based Khoung Phan '01 is Award-Winning Writer

This is a picture of my girlfriend Shannon and me. We're currently living in New York City where I'm working at Mouth Public Relations. Within two months here, I've worked on a few high-profile campaigns, the most notable being the book Murdered by Mumia, written by Maureen Faulkner and Michael Smerconish. You may have seen our clients in December on such shows as TODAY and the O'Reilly Factor.

In addition to work at Mouth, I do pro bono work as the Public Relations Director for the non-profit, service organization, nycTIES. This organization of philanthropic young professionals was co-founded by former Delta Lambda SMC and Pi Kappa Alpha International Chapter Consultant, Alex Price '98. In two years since he started the group, Alex has helped raised some $96,000 for charities in the Big Apple.
I got my start as a professional writer at FSU. While I was a member of the Chapter I was selected as nationally featured college journalist by PBS' "Washington Week" and U-Wire for the week of January 13, 2003, (I worked as Lifestyles Editor of the FSView & Florida Flambeau at this time). I also was the winner of the Pi Kappa Alpha International Fraternity award for best public relations programming (2001-2002).

Other major awards include: Florida Society of Newspaper Editors 2007 second-place winner for Criticism Writing; Florida Press Club 2006 first-place winner for Sports Feature Writing; First-place winner in 2005 for Community Reporting for work covering the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Hancock County, Miss; First-place winner in 2005 for Sports Column Writing; Second-place winner 2005 for News/Feature Series Writing.

I miss my friends and Brothers at Delta Lambda. I will always treasure being part of the original group of Delta Lambda Refounders in 2000, and serving as Public Relations Chairman and Rush Captain of the Chapter.

Phi Phi,
Khuong

Dan Cucchi Named Most Distinguished Graduate at the Florida Department of Law Enforcement's New Agent Academy Graduation Ceremony

Florida's Chief Financial Officer, Alex Sink, Brother Dan Cucchi and FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey are pictured above at FDLE's New Agent Academy Graduation Ceremony.

Last year, after 20 years of service with the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Dan Cucchi, '84 retired with the rank of Detective Sergeant. A month later, he was sworn-in as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) where he has been assigned to the Miami region over the past year conducting various statewide investigations. Dan is also a member of the agency's SWAT team and is currently on a rotation assignment for Governor (Brother) Crist's security detail when he is in the South Florida region. Dan is pictured above in October, 2007 at the FDLE New Agent Academy Graduation Ceremony in Tallahassee where he was presented with the agency's Commissioner's Award, given in recognition for Most Distinguished Graduate. The award was presented by FDLE Commissioner Gerald Bailey and Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink, both featured in the photo above.

"I currently reside in Fort Lauderdale with my wife of 17 years, Lisa Ann, and our two sons, Antonio (11) and Dominic (5). I sometimes run into Delta Lamda brothers in the South Florida area. Fellow pledge brother, Mike Miller ('84) and I still remain very close friends sharing regular family functions with each other."

Delta Lambda Refounding Father Andrew Jones '01 is now a candidate for the Florida Legislature from Orlando

Building things from the ground up has become a familiarity to Pike Brother and fourth generation Seminole, Andrew Jones '01.

Andrew was initiated into Pike as one of the 140 members of the Alpha class who worked to re-constitute and lead the Delta Lambda chapter at FSU. Andrew used these considerable leadership skills in rebuilding his fraternity, in serving his community, and now in raising his family.

"It feels very special to be a founding father and be able to have recreated our Fraternity from the ground up," said Andrew. "We were able to make the Fraternity special to us by getting involved in all the things that interested us. As Pikes, we were able to use our leadership skills to give back to the community and bring in guys who shared the same vision as us."

The founding Alpha class worked to make community service a strong and important part of Pike. Andrew recalled one memorable trip in which a dozen Brothers drove up into Georgia to help in cleanup efforts after a tornado had damaged the area. "We would go in small groups and just do things like that," said Andrew. "We all had 3.7 GPAs but still had time to give back to the community." Among some of the other unforgettable times for Andrew as a Brother was an event called "Meet the Pikes" night at Doak Campbell Stadium. It was held in the FSU President's Box overlooking the football field in which the members of the Alpha class were introduced to the audience. In attendance that night were some prominent Pike legends such as Bobby Bowden, chapter Founder Ken MacLean, Andy Miller and Charlie Barnes. Despite all the activities and events Andrew participated in with his Brothers, it was the downtime that became the most memorable. Andrew recalls, "My fraternity brothers were the people that I could relax and hangout with. We could be ourselves and talk about anything."

After completing his undergrad work at FSU, Andrew advanced on to attend law school as a member of the inaugural class at Florida A&M University. As a law student, Andrew organized and began a student run mentorship program that was later adopted by the university. "I learned as a Pike how to build things up and used that to help build the Law School and make it better," said Andrew.

Among his many contributions to the community, Andrew became a founder yet again, this time to a successful philanthropy named "Guys with Ties." This philanthropy hosts events to raise money for various charities in the Orlando area. The philanthropy since has expanded to new locations thanks to three other Pike brothers. Alex Price '98 started a new "Guys with Ties" affiliation in New York City, Matt Timmerman '01 in Charlotte and Eric Carr '01 in Jacksonville.

Andrew has also dedicated his life to serving the community by becoming a state prosecutor in Florida's Seminole and Brevard counties. He is now running for state representative in Florida, which will enable him to further give back to the community by working to increase the well-being and safety of the area. Andrew is married and is a father of three.

Andrew still attends the annual Pike alumni event during homecoming. "Being a Pike is a privilege," says Andrew. "There is a lot of foundation, loyalty, leadership and giving back to the community. Pike is a great legacy to carry on, and one that I will carry on for the rest of my life."
