Spring,
2010
Brothers,
One cold night
this past December, I was privileged to meet seven Pike alumni
who gathered at the Pike house. A few were from Tallahassee or
nearby; some had flown in from as far away as Birmingham and Miami,
St Pete and Ft. Lauderdale. But they were all here for the same
purpose, to participate in the Initiation of their sons into Pi
Kappa Alpha.
The Initiation
Ceremony is always inspiring. Watching these Pike fathers initiate
their sons was especially powerful for the undergraduate Brothers.
This tradition gives life to the enduring strength of our great
Fraternity Chapter. There are now 18 undergraduates in the current
chapter whose fathers are also Pikes.
I am so proud
to be the new SMC of Delta Lambda for 2010 and will work hard
to continue the Dynasty. I am a senior in Florida State's PGM
program, and will graduate in fall 2010 as a 'Class A' PGA Golf
Professional with a degree in Business and Hospitality. FSU is
one of only 20 colleges or universities with a PGA Professional
Golf Management Program, an accredited four-to-five year curriculum
including a required 16 months of internships and three different
levels of PGA tests. I have served Delta Lambda as Internal Vice
President, and I was honored to be tapped for Order of Omega and
three other Honors and Leadership Societies.

Executive
Committee
You can be
proud that Pi Kappa Alpha still stands as the leader among Florida
State's 23 IFC fraternities. This fall we welcomed back re-founded
chapters of SAE and Delta Chi, and Sig Ep may re-establish a group
sometime this year.
Pike is traditionally
the largest fraternity on campus. Over 50 new Brothers were initiated
in the 2009 fall class, and under new Rush Chairman Brett Badessa
we expect a great rush this spring. In Intramurals, Delta Lambda
came out of the Christmas break 50 points ahead of the second
place fraternity and more than 100 points ahead of #3. We expect
to field strong basketball, soccer and softball teams this spring
and hope to win our third consecutive Overall Sports Crown, our
eighth in the last ten years.
Pike Brothers
continue to lead in all areas of campus life. Past SMC Tyson
Brock was elected Homecoming Chief this fall. Jesse O'Shea
is well known on campus for his involvement in charitable work
as founder of the Student United Way and his creation of the Global
Haiti Initiative. Jesse will also be a candidate for the Truman
Scholarship this year. A large number of brothers including Justin
Walker, Tyler Fugitt, Adam Schwab, Avi Assidon Brian Davis, Austin
Black, and Adam Spott hold powerful political positions
on campus.
Pike continues
to have more Seminole athletes than all the other fraternities
combined. We're proud of Recardo Wright who was Captain
of the Seminole football team this fall. Drew Kittleson,
who is All-American in golf won the NCAA Golfweek Challenge and
will also being playing in the Jones Cup this spring which is
the second biggest amateur golf tournament, and Brandon Byram
is All-American in track. Seminole football, basketball, baseball,
track, tennis, hockey, rugby, soccer and volleyball all count
Pikes as members, and the Seminole Lacrosse team is loaded with
Delta Lambda Brothers.
This is an
exciting time to be a Pike at Florida State. Brotherhood is strong,
the chapter is sound financially, the house is full and I am fortunate
to have an exceptional group of leaders on the new Executive Committee.
They include: Matt Buckhalter, Nick Carew, Andrew Page, Brett
Badessa, Avi Assidon, Will Dieterle, Jet Bauman, and Bron
Volney.
Alumni, please
do not hesitate to contact me if I can help you in any way.
