Pike National EVP Justin Buck presents the 2025 Robert Adger Smythe Award to Delta Lambda SMC Owen Murtagh ’22 and Chapter Treasurer Andrew Schatz ’22. The ceremony took place in Memphis at the biennial National Leadership Conference, August 2.

Your Delta Lambda is stronger than ever.
I took the opportunity to reflect on the state of Delta Lambda chapter at the end of this past semester, and I realize just how successful our Chapter has been. I fully believe that Delta Lambda now is in the strongest position it has ever been in during the time I have known it.
We won multiple Intramural championships on the way to becoming All-Campus Intramural Champions again and brought the IM banner back to The Mansion where it belongs.We continue to dominate in membership recruitment all across campus. We have seen increasing numbers of Brothers hold executive positions among the most prominent clubs and organizations on campus.
We have continued our influence across Greek Life, winning multiple Sorority Man of the Year competitions this Spring. We have won more Man of the Year competitions over the past 4 years than all the other 20 fraternities combined.
Pike received multiple chapter awards at the spring IFC Gala, highlighted by individual awards to Steve Walker ’81 (Chapter Advisor of the Year) and Lucas Bozeman ’21 (Member of the Year).
The University views us as leaders in the IFC and the Greek Life Community.
Pike has remained the most influential fraternity chapter on campus. Our response and care for the community after the tragic mass shooting on our campus is one of many highlights.
Delta Lambda will continue to grow and progress over the fall, 2025 semester, and we will continue to achieve and to remain at the top of this campus. The process began with bringing home the Smythe Award on August 2nd .
I thank you for your continued support and care for the Chapter, and we are grateful for the involvement of every alumnus who continues to help Delta Lambda succeed.

Andy Miller ’70 Honored with National Lifetime Achievement Award
This June, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics met for their annual convention in Atlanta. The organization’s 2025 recipient of their Lifetime Achievement Award was past SMC Andy Miller ‘70.
He was only 24 years old in 1975 when Florida State University placed the entire Seminole athletics fundraising apparatus into the hands of the “boy genius”. He has certainly proven the accuracy of that nickname through his lifetime of dedication to Pi Kappa Alpha. But his achievements as President and CEO of Seminole Boosters, Inc throughout his stellar 45-year career give true validation to the ‘genius’ title.
Miller began as the only salaried employee of Seminole Boosters. Across five decades since then, Miller has become a legendary figure in collegiate athletics fundraising. This honor highlights not only his record of raising more than $1 billion for Seminole Athletics, but his extraordinary vision as well. College Town was his long-term project to bring retail and hotels close to the stadium so that fans who travel long distances will have a place to enjoy game weekends. Andy’s Pike Brothers refer to College Town as ‘Millerville’.
The massive University Center Complex, the largest contiguous brick structure in the United States began in 1988 as Andy’s secret “Project SBI”. It was secret in the beginning because certain rival institutions exerted fanatical political and financial pressure to keep it from becoming a reality. FSU’s Athletic Director Michael Alford presented the trophy, saying to the room packed with Directors of Athletics and young development officers from hundreds of colleges and universities across America, “If you don’t understand who Andy Miller is and what he’s about, you need to read up on it. He was so innovative, so dynamic, and so far ahead of his time.”
Andy’s association with Pi Kappa Alpha runs deep. In 1973 he was crowed Alpha Delta Pi Diamond Man; his sister Susan Jones was a Pike Little Sister and ADPi. Andy also served as House Corporation President during the early years, and has been active in two Capital Campaigns for the Pike house.
Andy’s younger brother Bill Miller ’74 and his son Matt Miller ’09 as well as his brother-in-law Bobby Jones ’72 are all Delta Lambda Pike alumni. His grandson, incoming freshman Hudson Khan already signed his Pike bid card this summer.

The unexpected passing of Lyle McAlister ’78 weighs heavily on the hearts of many good Delta Lambda Brothers. A large reception and remembrance were held at the Governor’s Club on Saturday. Pike alumni were there in numbers, many having flown in that day.
Mark Demont ’79, Lyle’s long-time friend from Leon High School days, offered the opening prayer.
Rudy Rowe ’87, Lyle’s friend and sometime business partner, was masterful in his conduct of the program. Lyle’s two sons, Jordan ’07 and Lee ’09 each spoke of their father’s love for his family and for Pi Kappa Alpha.
Joe Feheley ’81 recited the last stanza of the traditional Scottish funeral poem. “The Parting Glass”.
“Of all the comrades ere I had, they’re sorry for my going away,And all the sweethearts ere I had , they wish me one more day to stay.But since it falls unto my lot that I should go and you should not,I’ll gently rise and softly call, goodnight and joy be with you all.”
Afterwards, a Scottish piper in full kit played Auld Lang Syne.
